West Palm Beach Florida Snake Situation: Hi I live in west palm beach - not too far from Orlando. Is there anyplace I can buy a snake trap near here? I am out of the area for the summer, just came home for a weekend and found a good sized snake in my under-the-stairs closet. It is about 3 feet long. I'm pretty sure it's a black racer. The stairs have a landing, so I think he went around the corner under the low part (which unfortunately has stuff in it) I would like to lure him out and then catch and release him... but. I leave tomorrow Monday 8/15 around noon so I need to solve this quickly. Thanks for any advice.

My response: Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. We do sell snake traps here in Orlando, but I'm probably responding too late for you to get one. Can you just sweep it out of the are with a broom?

Thanks for the reply. No it's an under-stairwell closet with an airhandler unit at the landing area so he is in a very low very crowded area around the corner. Getting near him is a hands and knees operation. So I think a trap is the only answer. I guess I'll have to order one and then have my son in law install and monitor it. I hate to leave with him in there for someone else to solve but no help for it.

My response: All you have to do is go to a local Home Depot or Lowe's and purchase a rat glue trap - that will catch it. But PLEASE be sure to bring the snake outside and spray cooking oil on it so that it can be released.
