Seattle Washington Snake Situation: Hello, I'm hoping you can connect with someone in Seattle WA that can help me with my repeated snake problem. When I purchased a 2 yr old home in 1998, I soon learned that there was a snake problem. Come to find out it turned out to be the largest den ever found in the state. I studied and planned for an entire year on what to do to rid us of this issue. At that time, there was a gentleman that had been most recently with Wildlife Control and went off to start his own business just across the border in Wisconsin. I can not remember the name of his business and therefore have not been able to reconnect with him. Any chance you may know of him? After $20,000, major land excavation, and 7 months of executing (April-Oct 1999), I was anxious for spring of 2000 to see if I made the right decisions. All was good for a few years until a family found its way into the garage-through a pencil tip size hole in the block. After addressing that, we didn't have a significant problem until now. Last fall we trapped small garter snakes in the basement, and frequently spotted larger ones by the new landscape block flower bed. I'm sure that's where they have their new hibernaculum. I'm prepared to tear the entire flower bed down if that's what it will take to get rid of them, but I wanted to see if there's some other alternative before taking the most dramatic move. I'm really in need of help here. Not sure I can live through tis again and keep my sanity. Last time the 2 trappers came, the caught 255 snakes by hand in less than an hour. 500 snakes were caught and removed from the former berm in 3 days. They confirmed at least 12 entrances in the berm-which has since been removed.
