Riverside California Snake Situation: Hi David, I was looking up information about snakes and came across this website. I saw a snake (about 12 inches long and about as thick as a pencil to sharpie marker) on my driveway today. In the area we live in (Riverside, ca) I have never seen a snake (nor have my neighbors). I was wondering if you could help me take a look at the photo of the snake and tell me what type it is and if it is venomous?? It slithered into our bushes and we attempted to look for it and could no longer find it. We're all concerned for the small children in our area and our pets. Thank you so much for your time with my email. I hope to hear from you soon. Please let me know if you have any problems opening the attached photo. Warmly, Kelly

I walked out on my deck just a bit ago and found this snake skin. The alarming thing is I killed a larger copperhead earlier this year that was in my dogs kennel. I also had two rattle snakes in my front yard last year. But have also had brown snakes in my garage that were non venomous. Now I don't like killing things and if the snake is not poisonous I will relocate it or leave it alone. I don't mind them. However I have small children and don't need venomous snakes around them. Please look at these photos and see if you can tell what kind of snake this is. Let me know how you identify it if so. Thankyou for all of your help.
