Kalamazoo Michigan Snake Situation: Hello, I just found part of this skin today at the opening under my mobile home, I've seen one black snake in my yard the whole few years I've lived here, so i don't know what other species hang out in this area. It doesn't really bother me if its under my home, I would just like to be sure what kind it is so I know to be careful or if i should get it out because I have dogs that run around in the backyard near this... This was all that was left behind so its hard to tell what it could be. Any info would be appreciated.

Hi! I found your site while searching a way to ID these shed snakeskins. While hunting over the years in a state forest in Kalamazoo MI, I have encountered sheds like these in a very specific location. Usually I only see one or two, THIS year I found SIX plus two partials. One is a few inches over 5 ft. The forest was a huge sheep farm in the 1800's to early 1900's. The location is on top of a hill, level, an area that has been relatively clear , surrounded by a 2 foot high stone wall, like a corral or sheep fold. It now has one large oak tree growing in the center , and these skins have always been located within a few feet of this tree, and these were all within 20 feet of each other around that tree. I am not usually in this forest during the summer, so have not seen the snakes themselves, though my wife has seen an Eastern Racer in another part of this forest. I will send the photos in two emails, I don't want to overload anything. Thanks!
