Jersey City New Jersey Snake Situation: Hello David, I live in Jersey City but I'll be traveling to the Sebastian/Vero beach area over the next week, and plan to do a bit of herping while I'm there. While doing some research I came across your pest removal website, and instantly recognized you from several pictures I've seen of you handling eastern coral snakes (M. fulvius). Though I've no interest in handling them, eastern corals have long been on my life list of snakes to photograph. After a dozen or more trips through southern Florida, I've come across just about everything BUT. I wondered if there were any general areas you could point me in the direction of that may hold relatively dense populations of these snakes near the Sebastian area, or even just some good public habitat to get started with. Where/how do you most commonly encounter them during this time of year? Any info is greatly appreciated!
My response: They mostly stay under heavy debris, and are often sighted after a heavy rain, when flooding forces them out of their hiding areas.
My kids found a HUGE snake in my back yard, according to my 12 years old girl said. We got four kids aged from 3-12 who loved to play in our level back yard, I definitely don't want any risk or headache. Can I have a professional to come out inspect and give me some suggestions on how to keep the snakes away from my house/yard?
