Fresno California Snake Situation: David, Please, I would love to send you a snake skin for identification. In the past 2 years, I have on two occasions found copperheads in my driveway that have been run over! The skin is a fresh shed and appears to be longer than the dead snakes were. I live in the small town of Fresno CA, and have a very lush property with much here to attract all kinds of wildlife. I am a former science teacher and believe in sharing my outside habitat with critters, snakes included. For years I had a wonderful King Snake that kept all others away and the mice from my horse feed! He lived under my house in the crawl space as I saw him going in and out occasionally. Alas, someone working for me proudly brought the snake to me one morning hanging from a pitchfork and I have been without the great snake ever since. First winter he was gone, I had such a mouse infestation! I have seen a black rat snake in recent year, and the numbers of mice have abated. However, I have dogs and a cat and my cat was bit by a copperhead. Made him a feverish for a day and had an overnight containment at the vet, and I would much rather be without copperheads. I would bring a King snake in if I could find someone to bring one and I would allow it to live its days out peacefully here! Is there someone who would sell me one and release it here? I would greatly appreciate it if you could identify this snake skin. Like I mentioned, it is significantly longer than the the dead copperheads were. I could not find an address to send the snakeskin. Could you please give me the address? Nancy
